Who we are
When disease arrived without warning or reason, people often turned to stories to fill the gaps in understanding. The line between medicine and myth blurred, and fear often stepped in to explain what the science of time could not.
Bad Humors is a narrative podcast exploring the ways in which infectious diseases have shaped culture, folklore, and the course of history. Each episode begins with immersive storytelling based on real events, unfolding as people at the time might have experienced them. We then examine how science has come to explain these events and how both the myths and the medicine have left a lasting mark.
From misunderstood symptoms to sweeping epidemics, we look at how disease has influenced not only legends, but revolutions, social structures, and public health itself. The result is part historical mystery, part science communication, and part cultural reflection.
